4 & 5 Year Old Athletics...Best Team in History!

The Murray City Athletics in the T-Ball Division 2008 will go down in the history books as one of the great teams in history! Many people may think of the 49ers from the 80's or all of the great Yankees teams in baseball...but I firmly believe that this team could beat any of them!

I have really enjoyed coaching these kids and getting to know their families. We have had 2 games a week since the beginning of June and have 3 games left before the season ends. Grace has had so much fun and has already grown and progressed so much during this short time.

Daddy "Coach" and Grace!

I love the smile Grace and all of the other kids have on their face while they play. This is such a great game and to see them all take a shot at it while so young is awesome! I told all of the parents at our first meeting/practice that if these kids have fun and pick up some skills and ALL want to play again next year...then we have all done our job!

Here is the goofy picture! Not a ton different than the other one...LOL!

UPPER ROW (L to R): Asst. Coach Nick (everyone ignore the Ute shirt...yuck!), Timothy, Easton, Jaden, Gracie, Kylie, Kyler, Coach Cullimore (Coach of the Year winner...LOL!)

BOTTOM ROW (L to R): Camden, Mason, Grace (so cute!), Braeden, Grady, Ashton

This team will go down in the history books...this is where legends are born!

Summer: T Ball & Swimming Lessons

Summer has started and life became busier.

Grace Started T Ball the beginning of June. She is loving it. Derek coaches the team and does a great job at it. The children love him. Grace cried when Derek was not able to coach one of the games. It is great that Derek and Grace have something that they can do together.

Grace is such a funny girl. She loves ponies, princesses and ballerinas. She also loves sports, yelling at umps/refs with dad and shooting bad guys with guns made out of blocks. Go figure!

She has been taking swimming lessons as well. She now puts her head under the water and can play by herself while wearing her arm floaties. Last year I had to always have a hand on her. I was worried about always holding Grace and Ryan while in the pool. I didn't think that was very safe. Now the problem is solved. Small blessings for a mother who has her undergrad in worrying.

P.S. Grace hates Green olives.

Ryan turned five months old on Wednesday. On Tuesday I sat him down on my lap and explained to him that Grace rolled over at four months, so unless he wanted to be behind he had until bedtime. Well, after dinner I laid him on his tummy and he rolled from his tummy to his back and then a few seconds later he rolled back to his tummy. He made a complete roll. Grace jumped up and down and yelled how happy she was that he rolled and Ryan grinned and giggled and then took the next day off. He rolled over again yesterday to prove that is was not an accidental roll.

He is moving around more and more. The other night I went to check on the children before bed and Ryan had scooted half way down his crib and had turned sideways. I had to move him back so that I could sleep and not worry about him. He is starting to understand phrases now. He can be content and if I ask him, "Are you hungry?" or "Do you want to eat?" he suddenly will start to salivate and become angry if I don't feed him immediately. He also knows who Grace is. When ever I say "Where is Grace?" or "Can you find your sister?" he looks around to find her. It is very cute.

We have started him on solids. He likes everything we feed him. I forgot how messy babies get and how much of the food does not stay in their mouth. It is so fun.

Grace spent the last two nights at Derek's Parents' home. It has been nice to have a little break, but it is so lonely. I know it is for Ryan as well. He looks for her and seems sad when he cannot find her. He also seems really bored. I am definitely not as entertaining as Grace. There has been a huge drop off in the amount of singing and dancing in our home. Part of Ryan's bedtime routine includes Grace singing a bedtime song (that she makes up) and a dance. Ryan won't go to bed unless she does her song and dance. He loves her so much!

Grace is a Graduate!

We haven't done a real tremendous job at keeping this blog up to date as of late. We are going to try and do better. There have been some real fun things going on as of late.

Derek did a lot of traveling in May. He went to Southern California one week and Northern California the next week. The day after he got back on May 22nd, we got to see Grace during her Preschool Graduation.

It was very well put together and Grace really, really liked her teacher...Miss Debbie. She has been teaching preschool now for 21 years and got choked up during the graduation because she talked about how much she really liked this class.

Grace was able to attend preschool this year with her really good friend Mason. They were next to each other during all of the song performances and also when the diplomas were awarded.

She had fun doing the actions to all of the songs and did a great job. She made her parents really proud. She is also really excited to start Kindergarten this next fall.
